Sarah is from Canberra and is a world class powerlifter. She's been doing powerlifting for 2 years now, following 6 years of CrossFit.
In October Sarah represented Australia at the World Powerlifting - 100% Raw World Championships where she squatted double body weight (140kg) for the first time, achieved a PB total and won her age/weight class. A a result, she's ranked #1 in the world for age 40-44 under 72kg in both federations.
Not only are Sarah's powerlifting results incredibly impressive, but she also balances the training required to compete at an elite level with full time work in the military. Sarah is a Royal Australian Air Force Nursing Officer and she's experienced the difficulties and discipline required to manage both her career and sport. It's no easy feat juggling work, training, nutrition, sleep, recovery, social life and life balance, but the reward is worth it for her.
When she's not dedicating her time to powerlifting and in the military, Sarah is also a powerlifting coach and volunteers to handle and platform coach on competition days at both local and international competitions. She's also part of the Invictus Games 2020 coaching staff, coaching para-powerlifting athletes. Sarah also volunteers outside of sport at local community events.
Sarah's story is super inspiring and she has such valuable knowledge and experience both in and out of sport. Her first competition for 2020 will be the Iron Underground 10th Anniversary Showdown on 7th March. She's currently working hard every day to improve her total and is hoping to achieve a total of 400kg or a Wilks score of 400 in the next 12 months.
